Shirley I. Kromer, 83, passed away unexpected at her home in Slatington on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late George W. Sr. and Lillian M. (Spangler) Sutton. Shirley was the wife of the late Robert H. Scharadin, to whom she was married four years prior to his passing in 2013. She attended Northampton High School. A member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, Shirley was a sewing machine operator for more than 40 years at the former DeVille Blouse Co. of Danielsville before retiring from Enzo in East Allen Township. After retiring, she worked part-time as a cook at the Slatington American Legion. Shirley was a talented cook, baker, and cake decorator, who loved to be the host and feed everyone from family to neighbors.
Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Brian Kromer, Sr. and wife, Rose, of Nazareth, and Carol Schleppy and husband, Ronald, Sr., of Slatington; stepson, Brian Scharadin of Allentown; Three grandsons, Brian Kromer, Jr. and fiancée, Erica Simmons, Justin Kromer and wife, Kristina, and Ronald Schleppy, Jr. and wife, Gretchen; Three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Amber, and Madison; four step-grandchildren, Travis, Logan, Amy, and Ryan; four step-great-grandchildren, Reagan, Lorelai, Lillian, and Leighton; a brother, James Sutton and wife, Brenda, of Allentown; two sisters, Omegene Kennedy of Nazareth, and Bernice Harhart of Bath; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert Scharadin, she was predeceased by a sister, Linda M. Schleppy; two brothers, George W. Jr. and Terry L. Sutton; former husband, Delbert L. Kromer; and stepson, Craig R. Scharadin.
Services: Private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
