Betty A. (Kern) Bartholomew

Betty A. Bartholomew, 90, of Topton, formerly of Lower Nazareth Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township.  She was the wife of the late Ralph R. “Bubbie” Bartholomew.  Born in Maxatawny, Bettywas one of eight children born to Warren D. and Clardine (Knappenberger) Kern.  A member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, she was employed at various blouse mills in Nazareth for 38 years.  Prior to her retirement in 1998, Betty worked for nine years at the Nazareth Area School District.

Survivors: She is survived by nieces and nephews,including her nephew, John Kern and his wife, Leah, of Alburtis, with whom she previously resided.  Inaddition to her husband, Bubbie, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Doris Leiby, Joanne Zettle, and Audrey Seltmann; and four brothers, Donald, John, William and Dennis Kern.

Services: In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will be no services.  She will be quietly laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Nazareth. Arrangements are being handled by the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
