Delores M. Smith, 86, of Northampton, formerly of Walnutport and Danielsville, passed away with family peacefully by her side on Sunday, July 02, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the loving wife of the late Karle M. Smith, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2014. Born in Allentown, Delores was a daughter of the late George and Irene (Getz) Acker. A member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, she was employed at the former Cross Country Clothes in Northampton for more than 25 years before retiring. This Old House and Maine Cabin Masters were among her favorite remodeling programs, which Delores enjoyed watching. She also enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles in her spare time. Known for being straight forward, Delores never minced her words, and everyone always knew where she stood. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Cherryville.
Survivors: Delores will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter, Deborah A. Kulp and husband, Douglas, of Danielsville; sons, Dennis K. Smith and wife, Bernice Beharry, of Brodheadsville, and Gregory A. Smith of Walnutport; seven grandchildren, David, Heather, Gregg, Crystal, Pat, Nathan, and Gavin; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn “Toot” Loper of Allentown; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Karle, she was predeceased by 8 siblings.
Services: Delores’ viewing, service and burial in New Hope Cemetery at Little Moore in Danielsville, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
