Harry E. Martyn, III, 85, of Bethlehem Township,passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg. He was the loving husband of Anne C. (Coleman) Martyn, to whom he was married 62 years on May 20th. Born and raised in Wilson Borough, Harry was a son of the late Wilson Walter and Ruth (Wamsley) Martyn. A 1957 graduate of Wilson High School, he continued his education at East Stroudsburg University where he met the love of his life and graduated in 1961, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education. After a brief career as a special education instructor in the Reading School District, Harry embarked on a successful career as a financial planner, which spanned more than 60 years. He was a formerly a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, and currently a member of Grace Church Bethlehem. An avid golfer, Harry was a member of Northampton Country Club for 55 years, and he remarkably achieved not one, but three holes-in-one. Active in Freemasonry, he was a 33rd degree mason and a member of Easton Lodge No. 152, F. & A.M., as well as a member of Lehigh Consistory - Valley of Allentown, and Rajah Shrine.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Anne, he is survived by three sons, Jay Martyn and wife, Debra, of Moore Township, Harry E. Martyn, V of Bethlehem, and Eric Martyn and wife, Sharon, of Moore Township; four grandchildren, J.D. Martyn, Samantha Terhorst and husband, Michael, Steven Martyn, and Harry E. Martyn, VI; a brother, Wilson S. Martyn and wife, Kelly, of Wisconsin; a sister, Valerie Arena and husband, Cotton, of New Jersey; nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by a brother, Walter “Bud” Martyn.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 02, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. in GraceChurch Bethlehem, 4301 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem(Bethlehem Township) PA 18020. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon in church followed by a Masonic Funeral Service at 12:30 P.M. Interment will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
