Howard S. Eckhart

Howard S. Eckhart, Sr., 86, of Wind Gap, passed away at Northampton Post Acute
in Bethlehem Township, on Friday, November 24, 2023. He was the husband of
Elizabeth E. (O’Toole) Eckhart to whom he was married 66 years. Since 1992,
Howard and Elizabeth wintered in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida.
Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Henry A. Sr. and Elva E. (Rodger)
Eckhart. A 1955 graduate of Nazareth high School, Howard later attended the
former Churchman Business School, Easton. He was employed at the former
Hercules Cement Company in Nazareth, now Heidelberg, for 18 years, prior to his
early retirement due to health concerns. Howard was a member of the Wind Gap
American Legion and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belfast. In his spare
time, he enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by three sons,
Howard S. Eckhart, Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Albrightsville, Harold S. Eckhart and
wife, Constance, of Pen Argyl, and Hal S. Eckhart and wife, Elizabeth “Beth”, of
Easton; a daughter, Elaine E. Eckhart of Belfast; eight grandchildren; 10 great-
grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Howard was predeceased by an infant grandson, Michael; three brothers, Kenneth
L. Sr., William G., and Henry A. Eckhart, Jr.; as well as three sisters, Beulah
Werner, Arlene Hawk, and Ruth Faust.
Services: In honor of Howard’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements
have been entrusted to the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the
Village of Moorestown – Bath.
