Jean Hays

Jean C. Hays, 93, of Moore Township, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Ross Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Hays.

Born in Summerville, PA, Jefferson County, Jean was a daughter of the late Roy C. and Sarah A. (Lanker) Clinger. She was a graduate of Summerville High School, Class of 1948. A loving wife and homemaker, in the early years of her marriage, Jean devoted herself to raising a family. She later worked full-time as a nurse aide for the New York State Department of Civil Service before retiring after 20 years of service. Hunting for treasures in antique and thrift shops were among Jean's passions, and she especially looked forward to traveling and enjoyed many memorable visits with her family.

Survivors: She will be dearly missed by her children,William D. Spindler of Las Vegas, Patricia D. "Diane" Alaio and husband, Domenic, of Sciota, Mark Spindler and wife, Maria, of Deer Park, NY, Robin J. Spindler of Nazareth, Joyce Herring and husband, Jeff, of Pittsboro, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Charles Spindler, Melissa Spindler, Matthew Alaio, David Alaio, Marie Alaio, Julie Spindler, and Jamie Beninger; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Sidney, she was predeceased by a former husband, William M. Spindler, in 2023; a daughter, Tami J. Spindler, in 2021; a brother, Bruce Clinger; and a sister, Phyllis Bruce.
