Jessie (Aquilone) Hopf

d. May 5, 2024

Bethlehem

Jessie (Aquilone) Hopf, age 97, of Bethlehem, formerly of Bridgewater, NJ, Lake Winola, PA, and Bushkill Township, passed away on Sunday, May 05, 2024.  She was the beloved wife of the late Henry E. Hopf.  Born in Flagtown, NJ, Jessie was the daughter of the late Augusto Aquilone and Frances (Greco) Aquilone Adornato.

Jessie graduated from Somerville High School in 1944.  She worked at Belle Mead Army Depot in Belle Mead, NJ, then Somerville Plumbing and Heating where she met her future husband, Henry.  She and Henry were married on June 15, 1952, and made their home in Bridgewater, NJ where they raised their four children.  They were married fifty-three years before Henry’s death in 2010.

Jessie loved listening to and attending opera, reading, herb gardening, doing puzzles and traveling with her husband and visiting Chincoteague, Virginia with her grandchildren.  In her youth, she loved visiting Coney Island and going to the beach.  But her true passion was caring for her family.  Nothing was more important or made her happier than hearing from her children and grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of Bushkill United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the Mid-County Senior Center in Bath, and the Schoeneck Moravian Church Bible study group in Nazareth.

Until the end, Jessie was always looking out for others, and always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, a token of appreciation card or gift.  Through the years, this caring nature led to volunteer work at Green Knoll nursing home in Bridgewater, NJ and the Mission of Love Food Bank in Pen Argyl.  In 1975, she helped sponsor, through the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, a family of Vietnamese refugees, whose members became part of her family.

Jessie is survived by her children: David E. Hopf of Clinton, NJ, Brian H. Hopf of Milpitas, CA, Susan M. Corallo and her husband, Anthony, of Easton, and Henry E. Hopf, Jr. and his wife, Bettina, of Nazareth.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin H. Hopf and Leah M. Hopf, both of Nazareth, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and dozens and dozens of friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to her husband, Henry, she was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Aquilone.
