Joseph S. "Pops" Steier, Jr.

Joseph S. "Pops" Steier, Jr., 86, of Walnuport, passed away peacefully on Saturday,
April 13, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus.  He was the husband of Margaret A. (Groller) Steier to whom he was married for 62 years.

Born in Coplay, Joe was the son of the late Joseph S. Sr. and Anna (Geosits) Steier.  He attended Allentown Central Catholic High School and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps.  A member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 773, Allentown, he was a truck driver for Climax Specialties and Silverline Trucking.  Joe's greatest joy in life was being "Pops" to his two sons, Joey and Johnny and his daughter, Melany and their families. A lover of dogs, Joe enjoyed their families puppies, Posh, Chloe, Luna, and Roxy.  As his health declined, petting them on his lap soothed his anxiety and made him happy.  Joe loved dancing the polka and a can of warm beer.  No longer able to dance, he still found solace in listening to his polka music.  Rest assured Joe was welcomed into heaven with polka music playing and a can of beer from Uncle Doug.  He will be sadly missed by family and friends and remembered
as "Lustick Joe", a happy, fun loving guy.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by sons, Joseph "Joey" and his wife, Faye, of Northampton, John J. "Johnny" of Walnutport; daughter, Melany Nikles and husband, Joe,
of Walnutport; grandchildren: Joseph T. Nikles and his wife, Shannon, Adriana (Nikles) Schwartz and husband Scott, Justin and Samantha Steier;  great-granddaughters, Novana and Zoë; step-granddaughter, Amy; step-great grandsons, Zachary, Jeffrey, and Cody; neices, Anna, Cathy, Joannie, Patricia, Valerie, Heather, Rosanne, Cindy, and Ruth; and nephews, John, Michael, and James.

Joe was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna, Rosie, and Emma; Nephews, Butch, Joe, Jerry, Ricky, Dennis, and David. Nieces, Rita, Michele, and Diane.

Services: Celebration of Life to be announced at a future date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC , in the Village of Moorestown - Bath.
