Kathleen Wentzell

Kathleen Wentzell, 96, of Wind Gap, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Homewood at Plum Creek - Hanover, PA. She was the beloved wife of the late Reverend Emmett Wentzell to whom she was married to for 72 years before his passing in 2022. Born in Northampton, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Erma Smith (Huth).

Kathleen shared a rich life alongside her late husband, who was a prominent building contractor and co-owner of the former Mountain View Speedway in Wind Gap, as well as Wentzell's C-Mart in Brodheadsville. As a pastor's wife, she played an integral role in her community, offering her support and compassion to those in need.

Kathleen was a proud member of Lady Hall Rebekah Lodge #202 IOOF - Bushkill Center, where she embraced the spirit of community service and fellowship. An accomplished jack of all trades, she filled her life with passions such as dancing, gardening, shopping, and "running around," but her greatest joy came from taking care of her family.

She will be missed by her sons: Jeffrey and Lester Wentzell (Aleta); son-in-law: Edward Tanner; four grandchildren, Andrea King (Ryan), Jeremy, Sacha and Jennifer Clinton (Justin); five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by daughter: Dawn Tanner; siblings: James and Frances Smith.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Faith Reformed Church of Christ- 4394 W. Mountain View Dr. Walnutport, PA 18088. Friends and Relatives are invited to a viewing from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment at Plainfield Cemetery will be held after light refreshments are served immediately following services. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net.
