Mildred I. Long, 95, of Hamburg passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Laurel Center - Hamburg. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren H. "Boobsie" Long to whom she was married to for 57 years before his passing in 2006. Born in Womelsdorf, Mildred was a daughter of the late John and Edna Katerman (Miller).
Mildred worked in the cafeteria for the Lebanon and Hamburg Area School Districts. 'Millie" was a member of Zion Blue Mountain UCC - Strausstown. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and other crafts. She also enjoyed bingo, playing cards, NASCAR, the Phillies, the Sixers and many racing trips to the Reading Fairgrounds with her husband.
A special thank you is extended to the staff at the Laurel Center for the exceptional care and compassion they provided Millie in her final years. Their dedication allowed her to be surrounded by love and comfort.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Josephine Riegel (David) of Landisville, PA and Debra Evangelista of Hamburg, PA; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandsons & 2 great-granddaughters; son-in-law: Michael P. Kamp (Kim) of Red Hill, PA; many nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by a daughter: Cindy L. Kamp; son-in-law: Bruce L. Evangelista; siblings: Miriam A. Kantner, Betty M. Brown and John L. Katerman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Zion Blue Mountain UCC - Route 183 and Old Route 22, Strausstown, PA 19559. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Wednesday from Noon until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Strausstown Union Cemetery.
