Richard Bender

February 3, 1940 — July 29, 2024

Richard C. Bender, 84, formerly of Walnutport, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Chandler Estates in Plainfield Township.

Born in Bushkill Township, Richard was a son of the late Claude Sr. and Cecelia (Killinger) Bender. He attended Nazareth High School and later honorably served in the United States Army. A member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, Richard enjoyed a successful career in the garment industry as a cutter at various blouse mills in the region, which spanned 40 years before retiring from the former Cindy Lee Blouse Co. in West Bangor. He was also a member of Bushkill United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed watching football and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. His passion was woodworking and automobiles, and he was a true car enthusiast.

Survivors: Richard will be dearly missed by his children, Steven J. Bender and wife, Adriane, of Wind Gap, Connie M. Caiazzo and husband, Robert, of Pen Argyl, Diane L. Miller and husband, Roderick, of North Carolina, Karen S. Romano and fiance, Geno Catanzariti, and Kelly Karch and husband, Jimmy, both of Bushkill Township; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Claude "Bobby" Bender, Jr. of Chestnuthill Township, Rodger Bender and wife, Kathy, of Bangor, and Bruce Bender and wife, Snooks, of Florida; a sister,Catherine Harty of North Carolina; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Richard "Rick" Bender; a daughter, Kimberly DeLorenzo; a grandson, Jacob Miller; four brothers, Barry, Larry, Joseph and Johnnie Bender; and two sisters, Jenette Clymer and Rose Miller.

Services: A Private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family in Bushkill M.E. Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath.
