Richard H. Pagut, 74, of Walnutport, formerly ofEdison, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May03, 2023. He was the husband of Donna M. (Malkiewicz) Pagut. Rich and Donna celebrated 47 years of marriage on February 28th. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of Wanda M. (Pratnika) Pagut of Whiting, New Jersey, and the late Michael Pagut. After graduating in 1967 from J.P. Stevens High School in Edison, New Jersey, he honorably served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. Rich had a successful career with Conrail that spanned 33 years before retiring in 2009 as a track foreman. He grew up with horses and had many dogs in his adult life and was a man who had a great knowledge and love of animals. Rich understood the beauty of nature. His favorite activities were boating, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. Family man seems like a simple description for a man who gave generations cherished moments and favorite memories. Rich was always up for adventures, having great laughs and new experiences. He understood the importance of spending time with those he loved and cared for. During his condition, he made sure to show Donna different ways that she was still on his mind. Rich inspired his grandchildren to be hunters, fishers, future motorcyclists, and shared the importance of family being together. Rich is the example of enjoying and embracing the simple things life gives to each of us. His absence is difficult for his family to endure, but he was and always will be loved.
